Kick A Bad Habit Kick Plastic; Lead a green life! June 14, 2010

It is a bad world of Plastics today!

We have to become more responsible and do our little bit to retain our planet’s beauty!  Let’s give it a thought?

What are the various things you could do everyday to save the planet?

* Take a cloth bag with you when you go shopping for fruits and vegetables. This avoids one from taking too many plastic covers home.

* I don’t have an automatic control which stops the motor once the tank is filled. Guess what I did, I’ve given a provision  wherein the extra water overflowing goes into the little garden. Think of such alternatives and do your best to save water.

Though the main highlight here is to lead a plastic-free life, I would want to throw light on other aspects as well.

It is really difficult to enjoy the morning rides to college, the reason being horrible traffic on roads and the pollution which kills.

Car-pool everyday and save your pocket from heavy petrol prices.

* Though people talk about saving power and what not, most of us don’t really bother to turn off the lights and other electrical appliances when not using them.

* I have always wondered why people keep their engines on at signals. It makes sense when the signal is short but why do it otherwise?

Live a light life by creating an awareness among yourselves.

hmmm…. just one doubt, i agree that we are misusing plastic especially in india( in general misusing of anything is bad) but one side of plastic is that it actually reduced a lot of burden on the environment( esp the forests)… ’cause it replaced almost everything and we have to depend lesser on wood and metal etc…
if we start switching to like paper bags instead of plastic bags…. the chemicals used to produce paper are way more hazardous and harmful for the environment that ones used to make plastic.

So i don’t think plastic is to blame, its us and our misuse….

@ suraj: but switching to cloth bags would definitely be a better option

Cloth is good, it has been their since ages…. but its an expensive proposition.
Alternative: Just suppose if our government takes initiative of buyin used plastic bags and covers ( like they do with plastic bottles, beer bottles n all) then i bet u will never find a single plastic cover on the road or sewer…. So its just about being human and we are bad at it….
